Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy provides a safe and non-invasive alternative to traditional surgery, promoting natural healing without any side effects.

At PoshPod, we use shockwave therapy to treat the following issues

Heel pain

Achilles pain

Shin splints

Ankle pain

Jumper’s knee

How it works

During treatment, a high-intensity acoustic wave interacts with the tissues of the lower limbs and feet. This leads to a range of beneficial effects, including reversal of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen and breaking up of calcium build-up. These mechanisms create an optimal healing environment. As the injured area is returned to normal, functionality is restored and pain is relieved over the long term.

What to know about shockwave therapy

Does shockwave therapy hurt?

There may be slight discomfort during the treatment, depending on the pain you’re experiencing and which specific area. As the treatment is quite short, most patients are able to tolerate the discomfort. The intensity can also be adjusted throughout the treatment.

How many sessions will I require?

This will depend on the severity of the presenting complaint and how the tissue responds. The effects of shockwave therapy are progressive, therefore you will typically need about 3 to 5 treatments every 1 to 2 weeks to completely address the problem.

Are there any restrictions after treatment?

You might experience some soreness in the area being treated, so it is best to avoid physical activity for 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
