Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is a podiatrist?
Podiatrists are allied health professionals that specialise in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of lower limb disorders. This includes the feet, ankles, knees and hips.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, a GP referral is not required to visit a podiatrist. Simply call us up and make an appointment. You can also book an appointment on our website.
How long do appointments take?
Our skin and nail care appointments typically last at 30 minutes at the very least. Biomechanical assessments range from 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on your presenting complaint. Our reception team will let you know what is appropriate.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring any recent imaging you have had in relation to your complaint and the footwear you wear most often. If you have been recommended by another health professional, kindly bring any paperwork or letters from that practitioner. You should also wear clothing that’s comfortable and will easily allow the podiatrist to see your legs and feet.
Where are you located?
Our Sydney CBD clinic is a 5–10-minute walk from Town Hall, Wynyard and St James train stations. The closest car parking is QVB Sydney. Taxis also have access to George Street. We are directly above the Dymocks bookstore, close to The Strand Arcade. Our Manly clinic is located in Short Street Plaza, between Sydney Road and Raglan Street. We are directly across from F45 and the Lifeline store. Car parking is available in surrounding streets or under the Pacific Waves Building on Central Ave, and above the post office on Central Avenue. Our Newtown clinic is located just near the corner of Carillon Ave and Hospital Road. We are across from the secure RPA hospital car park. The closest train station is Macdonaldtown- just a 10 minute walk. The 412 bus stops at Carillon Ave opposite Susan Street and the 422 stops at Missenden Rd opposite St John’s College.
How often should I return for visits?
For general skin and nail care, we recommend returning every 8-10 weeks for foot health maintenance. Patients with biomechanical needs will need to return more often depending on the presenting complaint and treatment provided by the podiatrist.
Do you accept Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans?
Yes, we do. Please ensure the care plan is addressed to PoshPod and bring it with you on your first visit. Alternatively, you can also have your GP Fax us.
Do you bulk bill Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans?
We do not bulk bill. We can process your Medicare benefit through our online system after paying the consultation fee. This can take up to 7 days to appear in your account.
Do you accept members of Department of Veterans Affairs?
Yes, we do. Please bring your DVA card and paperwork from your doctor on your first visit.
Can I claim my visit through a private health fund?
Yes, private health funds include podiatry but it will depend on your level of coverage as to whether you are eligible to claim for these services. You will need to contact your health fund provider to find out about your coverage. HICAPS is also available so that you can directly claim from your private health fund on the day. You will only need to pay for the ‘gap’ of the service availed. Alternatively, we can give you a receipt and you may claim directly through your health fund.
Do you accept EFTPOS and credit cards?
Yes, we accept cash, cheque and all credit cards including American Express.
Do you have wheelchair, disabled and pram access?
Yes, we do. Sydney CBD is located in the Dymocks Building step free from George Street, which has lift access to every floor. Manly is on the ground floor of the Short Street Plaza. Our Newtown clinic is also on the ground floor and is easily accessible with a ramp.
